New York Jets vs. Houston Texans: Current situation
The New York Jets came into this season determined to end the longest active playoff drought that lasts for 13 years, but they will need a real miracle to do that. They fired head coach Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start, but things got even worse after Jeff Ulbrich took over, as they are 0-3 under him. The Jets are currently on a five-game losing streak but somehow are still seen as favorites in this game.
The Houston Texans surprised many by making it to the playoffs last season, and now that is not even questionable. CJ Stroud literally changed the culture within the team and the Texans are ready to make a lot of noise this season. They are still undefeated at home but are 2-2 on the road with a chance to improve.
New York Jets Stats & Form
The New York Jets are still looking for their identity, as this team is going through a real rollercoaster. Making a coaching change early in the season and sinking even deeper after that is a real nightmare for the Jets fans. They are currently on a five-game losing streak, and even though four of those games were really close, that doesn’t help the Jets. Last week, they lost 25-22 to the New England Patriots. Aaron Rodgers completed 17 of 28 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns, finding Garrett Wilson five times for a total of 113 years. Now the Jets are locked at the bottom of the AFC East with a 2-6 record. They are struggling on the defensive end, being ranked 25th in the league with 18.8 points per game and 24th with 310.4 yards per game. Defensively, they are much better as they sit in fourth place, allowing 286.6 yards and second in passing yards with 161.1 per game.
Houston Texans Stats & Form
The Houston Texans are on top of the AFC South with a 6-2 record. Last week they kept a perfect home record, winning their fourth straight in H-Town, 23-20 against the Indianapolis Colts. CJ Stroud had another solid game, completing 25 of 37 passes for 285 total yards, averaging 7.7 per pass with a 60.2 QB rating. Joe Mixon was the main man for the Texans with 102 yards. The Texans are a real defensive force, leading the league in allowed completions with 16.2 and completion percentage of 53.1. They are second with 280.2 allowed yards per game and 5.4 yards per attempt. Offensively, they are 14th in the league scoring 23.5 points per game and 10th with 351.4 yards per game.

Betting tip and prediction: New York Jets - Houston Texans (31.10.2024)
Saying that the New York Jets are under pressure is an understatement. The team that was built to win the Super Bowl has lost five straight games, and they are opening Week 9 with a must-win game against the Houston Texans. The Jets fans are wondering if things can really be this bad after they lost another close game last week to the struggling New England Patriots. The Jets made history in that one as they are the first team without a turnover to hold its opponent to under 250 yards and still lose the game after the Green Bay Packers in 2012. What these two teams have in common is that both were led by Aaron Rodgers, and between these two events, teams doing the above were perfect in 220 straight games. Rodgers, who is just a shadow of his MVP days, will go against the reigning rookie of the year, CJ Stroud, who has taken the Texans to another level. Joe Mixon is also doing a great job for Houston, as he became the first running back in NFL history who has rushed for over 100 yards in four of his first five games he has played with the team. So no matter how strong the Jets need this game, it is a fact that the Texans are simply the better team. Knowing that the Jets have a long list of injuries with linebacker C.J. Mosley, wide receiver Allen Lazard, offensive line Morgan Moses, and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker on it, we go with the Texans to win this one.
