Minnesota Vikings vs. Indianapolis Colts: Current situation
The Minnesota Vikings had a bye week in Week 6 and when they returned to action things did not look the same. Sam Darnold passed for 240 yards and was 18 of 25. Justin Jefferson had eight receptions for 115 yards.
The Indianapolis Colts have a rollercoaster season but are in a promising situation going into Week 9. They are coming off a 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans in Anthony Richardson’s second game back from injury. Richardson was far from the expected level going only 10 of 32 for a total of 175 yards. Jonathan Taylor rushed for 105 yards on 20 carries for the Colts.

Betting tip and prediction: Minnesota Vikings - Indianapolis Colts (03.11.2024)
The last time these two teams played the game went into the NFL history books as the Minnesota Vikings overcame a 33-point deficit to win 39-36 in overtime. The Vikings hit the history books again with one of the best starts in franchise history going 5-0 but just like that failed to third place in the division after losing the last two games. During the skid, Minnesota lost a key player as standout left tackle Christian Darrisaw suffered a season-ending knee injury. The team wasted no time in response, acquiring left tackle Cam Robinson and a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a conditional fifth-round pick in 2026 in a trade that can be a game changer for them. Things look to get back in the right direction as veteran tight end T.J. Hockenson will make his season debut after missing the first seven games recovering from knee surgery. He had 95 catches for 960 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games last season. The Indianapolis Colts are expected to make a quarterback change going into this week and turn to veteran Joe Flacco as they starter. The 39-year-old was great when replacing Anthony Richardson and now when he came back from injury, got benched after an inconsistent start to the season. Flacco has a 102.2 passer rating this season compared with a 57.2 passer rating for Richardson. Flacco has thrown for 716 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception for the year. The Vikings have no such doubts as Sam Darnold will make his eighth start of the season. He has posted a 107.2 passer rating while throwing for 1,610 yards with 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. Given the odds, the Vikings are the favorites to win this one and it is hard to imagine for them to lose the third straight. The Colts will pay the bill for the roster doubts they are facing at the moment and the Vikings will cover the -5.5-point spread.
