Liverpool vs. Brighton: Current situation
Liverpool was on top of the standings in the Premier League until last week, when they played 2-2 on the visit against Arsenal. That game ended their impressive eight-game winning streak but definitely cannot be labeled as a failure. That point on the road against one of the competitors can be huge in the final standings. Now it is on the “Reds” to win every game that can be won, and that is all they need to worry about this early in the season.
Brighton is probably the best team that nobody talks about in the Premier League, and even Liverpool has felt that on their own kin in recent years. It is a fact that they cannot compete with the budget, but the “Seagulls” are constantly producing top-level talent that makes them competitive against the best in the game. Still, it is pretty tough to get into the top four and win a Champions League spot, but if some of the smaller clubs can do it, that is definitely Brighton.
Liverpool Stats & Form
Liverpool is in fantastic form, winning five straight games in the Premier League and three in the Champions League, and last week’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal does not change that. The “Reds” have dropped behind Manchester City with a one-point deficit, which increases the pressure on them to perform well in this one. Their only loss so far in the season came at home against Nottingham Forest, and Liverpool should not allow a similar outcome in this game. Mohamed Salah has another impressive season leading the team with 6 goals and 5 assists.
Brighton Stats & Form
Fabian Hürzeler is the youngest head coach in the Premier League, and the German deserves all the respect for what he is doing with Brighton. The “Seagulls” are hanging on right behind the top teams in the Premier League and are ready to use every given opportunity to steal points on the road. Brighton won two of the four games played away from their home and scored seven goals in that stretch. Danny Welbeck is the best scorer on the team, with six goals so far in the season.
Liverpool – Brighton: Head to Head
Both Liverpool and Brighton have won 3 of the last 10 head-to-head games with four draws. Last season, the “Reds’ won 2-1 at home while it was 1-1 when Brighton was a host. “The Seagulls” won the previous two games, in the round of 16 of the FA Cup and their home game in the 2022-23 season. The last time Brighton won in Liverpool was in February 2021 when the score was 1-0. The last five games between these two teams went over 2.5 goals and in four of those five both teams scored at least a goal.

Betting tip and prediction: Liverpool - Brighton (02.11.2024)
Not many teams in the Premier League have a positive record against Liverpool in recent years, and Brighton is one of the few. “The Seagulls” have lost only once in the last five games and are visiting the team they have defeated twice in the last two years. Brighton was on top of their game, beating Tottenham and Newcastle in back-to-back games, and right when their fans thought the team would jump among the top five in the standings, Brighton slipped on the Wolves. Head coach Fabian Hürzeler quickly became the fan favorite after taking over the team this summer and can turn into a real hero if Brighton win at Anfield. That will not be easy at all, especially with all the injuries the 31-year-old head coach has to deal with. Strikers Danny Welbeck, Yankuba Minteh, and Joao Pedro, veteran James Milner, and defender Adam Webster are all out for Brighton. Liverpool’s coach Arne Slot has no such problems, as Federico Chiesa has barely even played since his transfer from Juventus, and Conor Bradley and Harvey Elliott probably wouldn’t even start even if they were healthy. After a draw against Arsenal last week, Liverpool has fallen to second place in the standings and cannot allow to fall any more behind Manchester City. This will definitely be a challenging game, but the “Reds,” led by Mohamed Salah, are too good of a team and will take care of business with a win following a lead at the halftime break.
